Learning to read is a process made up of many different skills. One of those skills is learning to automatically recognize some of the most common words in reading. You may know these as high frequency words or sight words, but both terms have become loaded. I choose to call them words to know because that is exactly what they are. As a kid, I loved the feeling of recognizing a new word. It was exciting to get to see the real world through a whole different lens.
